BH Tech Connection
Definitive Small Business IT Management from a Jedi Master

BH Tech Connection

Sensitive data is constantly present in law firms, and as technology increasingly permeates legal practices, it is crucial to ensure the secure storage of sensitive information. While large establishments hire and deploy their own technical personnel in a computer-powered work space, solopreneurships and micro teams find it more tedious to strike the right balance between their work and IT integration.

Not everyone thinks about the consequences of not using proper backup, email security settings or password management. An IT managed service provider, BH Tech Connection (BHTC) ranks the most significant faults within an IT network and suggests solutions to address the anomalies based on priority, pointing these tiny law firms in the right direction.

“We empower our clients with best-in-class tools and expertise, allowing them to delegate IT services so they can focus on their core business,” says Brady Helkenn, principal at BHTC.

As personal devices come into workplaces, small businesses are more susceptible to cyber attacks than an enterprise with a centralized ecosystem and standardized equipment. Reliable IT architecture, however, is expensive, presenting a significant hurdle in affordability for solopreneurs or legal teams with less than 10 people. Understanding the budgeting processes and expenditure analyses of their clients, BHTC has a cost-effective billing process that allows clients to acknowledge key IT implementation decisions and select solutions that fit their requirements.

Clients can purchase services by making fixed-cost quarterly payments or by taking advantage of an annual billing cycle plan that offers a 10 percent discount. Encouraging clients to deploy managed services, BHTC operates quietly in the background and protects against downtime, data loss and cybersecurity incidents.

“We focus on firms with a 1 to 10 head count. Most IT companies require a minimum number of computers before they will help, leaving many individuals and business owners without support and their technology at risk,” elaborates Helkenn. “We disrupt the IT industry because we do something for this underserved demographic that no one else does: provide proactive, preventative managed IT services designed specifically for them – from the packaging options we offer to how frequently we bill. We focus on this demographic because no matter the size of your firm, you deserve to have your IT protected.”

Client-Oriented Onboarding

Prior to client sign-up, BHTC runs them through a process to deliver value upfront and provides different best practice guides based on business continuity, cybersecurity, data privacy and risk management.

A free IT action plan is performed for clients to self-assess their IT infrastructure and find potential areas for improvement or transformation. As clients grow their teams, they can delegate setup and management of IT infrastructure to BHTC’s group of experts at nominal and affordable rates. Highly knowledgeable and self-sufficient, its personnel complete IT integration correctly in a shorter timeframe, and with a high level of service.

”We disrupt the IT industry because we do something for this underserved demographic that no one else does: provide proactive, preventative managed IT services designed specifically for them – from the packaging options we offer to how frequently we bill. We focus on this demographic because no matter the size of your firm, you deserve to have your IT protected”

In a small company, losing even a single device is disastrous. BHTC implements corporate-grade tools that are remotely controllable to keep a continuous watch on an IT network, mitigating issues and assuring top security. For instance, the leveraged antivirus tool has anti-ransomware capabilities and rollback functionality that is common only at major IT companies and larger enterprises.

Installing tools and practices that work for small businesses, BHTC evaluates each application’s effect on productivity. If a data access and sharing platform is a problem rather than a solution, it collaborates with the client to integrate a secure method for authorized users to transmit data. It continually tests the precision of the tool it uses to ensure an embedded technology is still the most viable option for internal purposes and clients. When better alternatives to specific procedures are found, it assists clients in swapping to the new system without interfering with their business operations. From a client’s perspective, the constant analysis of their IT infrastructure frees up headspace from concerns about IT modernity and remaining relevant.

Safe and Insured IT Infrastructures

Beyond the usual IT issues, a common situation a client faces is updating network architecture to stay in compliance with laws that govern the issuance of cybersecurity insurance policies. Frequently, SMB management does not comprehend the screening procedure and fails to respond to inquiries about fulfilling the necessary IT requirements for purchasing a policy.

Assisting clients with the application, BHTC ensures that proper parameters are in place, averting threats to insurance coverage. It assures that all technology implementation and processes are in accordance with insurance company guidelines. To do so, BHTC effectively communicates with its clients to find the missing links in their IT arsenal and educate them on techniques to fill in the gaps.

For one company that was failing compliance tests regarding their credit card processing, BHTC created an extensive IT action plan. After finding over 50 technology aspects that were amiss, the IT managed service provider relieved some tension for the client by taking corrective measures against backlogged technology integration areas.

BHTC was able to sift through all the problems over a period of three to four months and find suitable solutions or alternate options that were up to standards for obtaining a no-objection certificate from an insurer.

All-Inclusive Managed IT Services

At BHTC, the client comes first. Employees are hired based on their customer service skills and IT expertise and background, prioritizing the former over the latter. It contends that the top employees should be able to communicate with small businesses and demonstrate empathy while discussing IT-related issues and potential solutions.

Part of the new hire induction process includes a Tech Ninja master class that Helkenn created and curated personally as an IT-focused customer service boot camp. In this onboarding process, common misconceptions about IT services are dispelled, including slow response times, poor communication, ghosting and the failure to close tickets for persistent problems. It focuses on ensuring that client responses are thorough and prompt.

“We follow up with messages that are more than just ‘okay’ and believe a client should not be waiting too long for us to respond to their queries,” says Helkenn.

We empower our clients with best-in-class tools and expertise, allowing them to delegate IT services so they can focus on the core of their business

Looking to expand its managed IT services offerings, BHTC excels in staying up-to-date with the latest IT trends that affect small businesses. Using a reliable remote IT support solution, it uses apps to manage, segment and regulate a business' technological architecture.
BHTC recently added dark web scanning and detection to its service offerings. This tool will notify BHTC when a client’s passwords are compromised, leaked or put up for auction on the dark web. Users will be able to prevent cyber casualties before they happen, often weeks, if not months before any public news or announcements and surge ahead with confidence to run a modern-day business.

In the future, BHTC will incorporate a third-party patch management program to continue encouraging customers to download system and application updates to seal gaps that could expose users to cybersecurity concerns.
