Logikcull: Robust eDiscovery Platform to Streamline Legal Documentations

With the evolution of technology, the process of preserving and presenting evidence for law firms and organizations has also evolved continuously. Realizing this shift in legal arena, Andy Wilson along with Sheng Yang founded Logikcull.com in 2004, an internet company that allows legal teams to quickly manage eDiscovery and document review, from anywhere without the need for hardware, software, or vendors.

Using Logikcull’s Culling Intelligence engine, the data sets of legal firms or governments are automatically organized and made searchable

Logikcull helps legal teams expedite discovery for litigation and investigations. What used to take weeks or months can now be done in hours or days for a fraction of the cost. “It is a tedious process to sit and browse through millions of paper prints manually to find that case winning evidence. The nature of digital data makes it extremely well suited to investigation, as it can be electronically searched with ease. Furthermore, digital data is difficult or impossible to completely destroy, particularly if it gets into a network or cloud,” says Andy Wilson, CEO of Logikcull.

Logikcull is delivered via the cloud, which means there is no need to install complicated hardware and software. It is self-serviced, so customers can simply drag-and-drop discovery data (like emails, office files, zips) into the browser, and Logikcull automatically organizes the data and makes it searchable for them. From there, legal teams can quickly filter their results using Logikcull’s Culling Intelligence engine, complete the entire document review process, and produce their data—all from within the same application.
The added advantage is customers can do this from their phone, tablet, or Mac/PC without the help of technical experts.

After relevant data and documents are identified, they are placed under a legal hold – meaning they cannot be modified, deleted, erased or otherwise destroyed. Potentially relevant data is collected and then extracted, indexed and placed into a database. “At this point, data is analyzed to cull or segregate the clearly non-relevant documents and e-mails. With Logikcull legal hold, you can easily build new legal hold templates and clients will be automatically reminding everyone on the hold for you,” says Wilson. The data is hosted in a secure environment and made accessible to reviewers who code the documents for their relevance to the legal matter.

These features of Logikcull have made the work of government agencies easier while handling FOIA (Freedom of Information Requests). The District of Baltimore hired Logikcull to process electronic data related to the public information requests between 350 and 500 they receive each year for FOIA. “It used to be giant storage rooms with file cabinets, and you would send someone to find a file, bring it back, review it and then produce it,” As the state started getting more FOIA requests, they wanted to make sure they had a system to meet the needs. With Logikcull, thousands of documents are retrieved at a moment’s notice. As a result, Baltimore went from 40 hours to just 2 hours response time. Similar to the District of Baltimore, Logikcull is also associated with a list of prestigious clientele including City of Chicago, Vinson & Elkins, Unisys, Stone Energy, Miles & Stockbridge, Lloyd Gosselink, Axiom, and Sierra Clubs.

The responsive user interface that requires zero training, and the subscription based pricing with full price predictability, are the key reasons for their success. “We have already built integration with Box. com for cloud-to-cloud discovery and we are working towards building more such integrations. Wherever discovery content exists, we will make it easy for our customers to get, search, and produce it. This is no end to our roadmap, and we are surging ahead,” concludes Wilson.
